Sears Is Latest Retailer To Pull Bausch And Lomb Contact Solution From Shelves
Julie Farby - All Headline News Staff WriterChicago, IL (AHN)- Joining the growing list of retailers that have stopped selling the contact lens solution pending a federal probe into whether it was linked to a serious eye infection, Sears Holdings Corp. says it pulled ReNu with MoistureLoc from its Kmart and Sears stores. Peter Whitsett, Sears Holdings merchandise officer for general merchandise, says, “We felt this was the appropriate step to take for our customers, while we await the outcome of the U.S. Centers For Disease Control and Prevention investigation into reports of a rare fungal eye infection linked to contact lenses.” According to the report, U.S. health authorities are looking into 109 cases of a rare infection that could cause permanent vision loss if untreated. People in 26 of those cases say they had used ReNu products or generic versions, made by Bausch and Lomb. Article © All Headline News - All Rights Reserved
